If the reference in the API request exceeds the threshold allowed by the
reference package (NOTE: this isn't defined by distribution
specification!) we return 500 back to the client.
This commit makes sure we return 400 and the explanation of the error in
the returned JSON payload.

Our context package predates the establishment of current best practices
regarding context usage and it shows. It encourages bad practices such
as using contexts to propagate non-request-scoped values like the
application version and using string-typed keys for context values. Move
the package internal to remove it from the API surface of
distribution/v3@v3.0.0 so we are free to iterate on it without being
constrained by compatibility.

This commit removes some `conn` parameters of private functions, which can
be obtain from the struct itself. The `conn` is for the old `redisgo` library,
which is replaced by `go-redis` in #4019.

Split request and hit metrics into separate metrics, rather than using
labels. This avoids duplication of data and makes metric math easier.
* Count cache errors separately to avoid weird math.
* Hit ratio: `registry_storage_cache_hits_total / registry_storage_cache_requests_total`
* Miss ratio: `1 - (registry_storage_cache_hits_total / registry_storage_cache_requests_total`

gofumpt (https://github.com/mvdan/gofumpt) provides a supserset of `gofmt` / `go fmt`,
and addresses various formatting issues that linters may be checking for.
We can consider enabling the `gofumpt` linter to verify the formatting in CI, although
not every developer may have it installed, so for now this runs it once to get formatting
in shape.

Instead of letting the cache grow without bound, use a LRU to impose a
size limit.
The limit is configurable through a new `blobdescriptorsize` config key.

Go 1.13 and up enforce import paths to be versioned if a project
contains a go.mod and has released v2 or up.
The current v2.x branches (and releases) do not yet have a go.mod,
and therefore are still allowed to be imported with a non-versioned
import path (go modules add a `+incompatible` annotation in that case).
However, now that this project has a `go.mod` file, incompatible
import paths will not be accepted by go modules, and attempting
to use code from this repository will fail.
This patch uses `v3` for the import-paths (not `v2`), because changing
import paths itself is a breaking change, which means that the
next release should increment the "major" version to comply with
SemVer (as go modules dictate).

If the dgst key does not exist in the cache when calling HGET, `redis.String` will return an `ErrNil` which we need to translate into `distribution.ErrBlobUnknown` so that the error being returned can be properly handled. This will ensure that `SetDescriptor` is properly called from `cachedBlobStatter::Stat` for `repositoryScopedRedisBlobDescriptorService` which will update the redis cache and be considered as a Miss rather than an Error.

* fix redis caching issue
earlier redis cache was updated when there was any error including any
temporary connectivity issue. This would trigger set calls which would
further increase load and possibly connectivity errors from redis
leaving the system with continuous errors and high latency. Now the
cache is updated only when it is genuine cache miss. Other errors do not
trigger a cache update.

- HTTP metrics of each API endpoint
- cache counter for request/hit/miss
- histogram of storage actions, including:
GetContent, PutContent, Stat, List, Move, and Delete

To simplify the vendoring story for the client, we have now removed the
requirement for `logrus` and the forked `context` package (usually
imported as `dcontext`). We inject the logger via the metrics tracker
for the blob cache and via options on the token handler. We preserve
logs on the proxy cache for that case. Clients expecting these log
messages may need to be updated accordingly.

Back in the before time, the best practices surrounding usage of Context
weren't quite worked out. We defined our own type to make usage easier.
As this packaged was used elsewhere, it make it more and more
challenging to integrate with the forked `Context` type. Now that it is
available in the standard library, we can just use that one directly.
To make usage more consistent, we now use `dcontext` when referring to
the distribution context package.

The registry uses partial Named values which the named parsers
no longer support. To allow the registry service to continue
to operate without canonicalization, switch to use WithName.
In the future, the registry should start using fully canonical
values on the backend and WithName should no longer support
creating partial values.

The Redis tests were failing with a "connection pool exhausted" error
from Redigo. Closing the connection used for FLUSHDB fixes the problem.

tarsum is not actually used by the registry. Remove support for it.
Convert numerous uses in unit tests to SHA256.
Update docs to remove mentions of tarsums (which were often inaccurate).
Remove tarsum dependency.

There seems to be a need for a type that represents a way of pointing
to an image, irrespective of the implementation.
This patch defines a Reference interface and provides 3 implementations:
- TagReference: when only a tag is provided
- DigestReference: when a digest (according to the digest package) is
provided, can include optional tag as well
Validation of references are purely syntactic.
There is also a strong type for tags, analogous to digests, as well
as a strong type for Repository from which clients can access the
hostname alone, or the repository name without the hostname, or both
together via the String() method.
For Repository, the files names.go and names_test.go were moved from
the v2 package.

The "testing" package adds some flags in its init function, so utilities
that import distribution code may print a page of extra testing flags in
their help output.
This commit solves the issue by moving an import of "testing" in the
registry/storage/cache package to a new
registry/storage/cache/cachecheck package, which is only imported by
tests.

Implement the delete API by implementing soft delete for layers
and blobs by removing link files and updating the blob descriptor
cache. Deletion is configurable - if it is disabled API calls
will return an unsupported error.
We invalidate the blob descriptor cache by changing the linkedBlobStore's
blobStatter to a blobDescriptorService and naming it blobAccessController.
Delete() is added throughout the relevant API to support this functionality.

After consideration, we've changed the main descriptor field name to for number
of bytes to "size" to match convention. While this may be a subjective
argument, commonly we refer to files by their "size" rather than their
"length". This will match other conventions, like `(FileInfo).Size()` and
methods on `io.SizeReaderAt`. Under more broad analysis, this argument doesn't
necessarily hold up. If anything, "size" is shorter than "length".
