There are a lot of works to do between create_vm (HV will mark vm's state
as VM_CREATED at this stage) and vm_run (HV will mark vm's state as VM_STARTED),
like building mptable/acpi table, initializing mevent and vdevs. If there is
something goes wrong between create_vm and vm_run, the devicemodel will jumps
to the deinit process and will try to destroy the vm. For example, if the
vm_init_vdevs failed, the devicemodel will jumps to dev_fail and then destroy
the vm.
For normal vm in above situation, it is fine to destroy vm. And we can create and
start it next time. But for RTVM, we can't destroy the vm as the vm's state is
VM_CREATED. And we can only destroy vm when its state is VM_POWERING_OFF. So, the
vm will stay at VM_CREATED state and we will never have chance to destroy it.
Consequently, we can't create and start the vm next time.
This patch fixes it by allowing to pause and then destroy RTVM when its state is VM_CREATED.

wbinvd is used to write back all modified cache lines in the processor's
internal cache to main memory and invalidates(flushes) the internal caches.
Using clflushopt instructions to emulate wbinvd to flush each
guest vm memory, if CLFLUSHOPT is not supported, boot will fail.

The walk_ept_table API is used to walk through EPT table for getting
all of present pages, user can get each page entry and its size
from the walk_ept_table callback.
The get_ept_entry is used to getting EPT pointer of the vm, if current
context of mv is secure world, return secure world EPT pointer, otherwise
return normal world EPT pointer.

The current implement doesn't clear which access type we support for
APIC-Access VM Exit:
1) linear access for an instruction fetch
-- APIC-access page is mapped as UC which doesn't support fetch
2) linear access (read or write) during event delivery
-- Which is not happened in normal case except the guest went wrong, such as,
set the IDT table in APIC-access page. In this case, we don't need to support.
3) guest-physical access during event delivery;
guest-physical access for an instruction fetch or during instruction execution
-- Do we plan to support enable APIC in real mode ? I don't think so.

This patch introduces check_vm_vlapic_state API instead of is_lapic_pt_enabled
to check if all the vCPUs of a VM are using x2APIC mode and LAPIC
pass-through is enabled on all of them.
When the VM is in VM_VLAPIC_TRANSITION or VM_VLAPIC_DISABLED state,
following conditions apply.
1) For pass-thru MSI interrupts, interrupt source is not programmed.
2) For DM emulated device MSI interrupts, interrupt is not delivered.
3) For IPIs, it will work only if the sender and destination are both in x2APIC mode.

This patch introduces vLAPIC state for a VM. The VM vLAPIC state can
be one of the following
* VM_VLAPIC_X2APIC - All the vCPUs/vLAPICs (Except for those in Disabled mode) of this
VM use x2APIC mode
* VM_VLAPIC_XAPIC - All the vCPUs/vLAPICs (Except for those in Disabled mode) of this
VM use xAPIC mode
* VM_VLAPIC_DISABLED - All the vCPUs/vLAPICs of this VM are in Disabled mode
* VM_VLAPIC_TRANSITION - Some of the vCPUs/vLAPICs of this VM (Except for those in Disabled mode)
are in xAPIC and the others in x2APIC
Upon a vCPU updating the IA32_APIC_BASE MSR to switch LAPIC mode, this
API is called to sync the vLAPIC state of the VM. Upon VM creation and reset,
vLAPIC state is set to VM_VLAPIC_XAPIC, as ACRN starts the vCPUs vLAPIC in
XAPIC mode.

This patch changes the code in vlapic_set_apicbase for the following reasons
1) Better readability as it first checks if the new value programmed into
MSR is any different from the existing value cached in guest structures
2) Check if both bits 11:10 are set before enabling x2APIC mode for guest.
Current code does not check if Bit 11 is set.
3) Add TODO in the comments, to detail about the current gaps in
IA32_APIC_BASE MSR emulation.

When the lapic is passthru, vpic and vioapic cannot be used anymore. In
current code, user can still inject vpic interrupt to Guest OS, this is
not allowed.
This patch remove the vpic and vioapic initiate functions during
creating VM with lapic passthru. But the APIs in vpic and vioapic are
called in many places, for these APIs, follow the below principles:
1. For the APIs which will access uninitiated variables, and may case
hypervisor hang, add @pre to make sure user should call them after vpic or
vioapic is initiated.
2. For the APIs which only return some static value, do noting with them.
3. For the APIs which user will called to inject interrupt, such as
vioapic_set_irqline_lock or vpic_set_irqline, add condition in these
APIs to make sure it only inject interrupt when vpic or vioapic is
initiated. This change is to make sure the vuart or hypercall need not
to care whether lapic is passthru or the vpic and vioapic is initiated
or not.

On SDC scenario, SOS VM id is fixed to 0 so some hypercalls from guest
are using hardcoded "0" to represent SOS VM, this would bring issues
for HYBRID scenario which SOS VM id is non-zero.
Now introducing a new VM id concept for DM/VHM hypercall APIs, that
return a relative VM id which is from SOS view when create VM for post-
launched VMs. DM/VHM could always treat their own vm id is "0". When they
make hypercalls, hypervisor will convert the VM id to the absolute id
when dispatch the hypercalls.

This patch fix potential null pointer dereference
1, will access null pointer if 'context' is null.
2, if entry already been added to the VM when add
intx entry for this vm, but parameter virt_pin
is not equal to entry->virt_sid.intx_id.pin. So
will saves this entry address to
vpin_to_pt_entry[entry->virt_sid.intx_id.pin] and
vpin_to_pt_entry[virt_pin]. In this case, this entry
will be freed twice.

Currently vlapic id of SOS VM is virtualized, it is indexed by vcpuid in
physical APIC id sequence, but CPUID 0BH leaf still report physical
APIC ID. In SDC/INDUSTRY scenario they are identical mapping so no issue
occured. In hybrid mode this would be a problem because vAPIC ID might
be different with pAPIC ID. We need to make the APIC ID which returned from
CPUID consistent with the one returned from LAPIC register.

Previously multiboot mods[0] is designed for kernel module for all
pre-launched VMs including SOS VM, and mods[0].mm_string is used
to store kernel cmdline. This design could not satisfy the requirement
of hybrid mode scenarios that each VM might use their own kernel image
also ramdisk image. To resolve this problem, we will use a tag in
mods mm_string field to specify the module type. If the tag could
be matched with os_config of VM configurations, the corresponding
module would be loaded;

According to Chap 23.8 RESTRICTIONS ON VMX OPERATION, Vol 3, SDM:
"Any attempt to set one of these bits to an unsupported value while in VMX
operation (including VMX root operation) using any of the CLTS, LMSW, or
MOV CR instructions causes a general-protection exception."
So we don't need to trap them out then inject the GP in hypervisor.

FuSa requires setting CR4.SMAP/SMEP/PKE will invalidate the TLB. However,
setting CR4.SMAP will invalidate the TLB on native while not in non-root mode.
To make sure this, we will trap CR4.SMAP/SMEP/PKE setting to invalidate the TLB
in root mode.

In current code, vpci do the pci enumartion and add pci devices to the
context table of iommu.
Need to enable iommu DMA address translation later than vpci init.
Otherwise, in UEFI platform, there will be a shot time that address translation
is enabled, but the context table is not setup.
For the devices active in UEFI environment will have problem on address translation.

At the time the guest is switching to X2APIC mode, different VCPUs in the
same VM could expect the setting of the per VM msr_bitmap differently,
which could cause problems.
Considering different approaches to address this issue:
1) only guest BSP can update msr_bitmap when switching to X2APIC.
2) carefully re-write the update_msr_bitmap_x2apic_xxx() functions to
make sure any bit in the bitmap won't be toggled by the VCPUs.
3) make msr_bitmap as per VCPU.
We chose option 3) because it's simple and clean, though it takes more
memory than other options.
BTW, need to remove const modifier from update_msr_bitmap_x2apic_xxx()
functions to get it compiled.

The previous function just check the pstate target value in PERF_CTL msr
by indexing px data control value which comes from ACPI table, this would
bring a bug in the case that guest is running intel_pstate_driver:
the turbo pstate target value from intel_pstate driver is in a range
instead of fixed value in ACPI _PSS table, thus the turbo px request would
be rejected. This patch fixed this issue.

ACRN supports LAPIC emulation for guests using x86 APICv. When guest OS/BIOS
switches from xAPIC to x2APIC mode of operation, ACRN also supports switching
froom LAPIC emulation to LAPIC passthrough to guest. User/developer needs to
configure GUEST_FLAG_LAPIC_PASSTHROUGH for guest_flags in the corresponding
VM's config for ACRN to enable LAPIC passthrough.
This patch does the following
1)Fixes a bug in the abovementioned feature. For a guest that is
configured with GUEST_FLAG_LAPIC_PASSTHROUGH, during the time period guest is
using xAPIC mode of LAPIC, virtual interrupts are not delivered. This can be
manifested as guest hang when it does not receive virtual timer interrupts.
2)ACRN exposes physical topology via CPUID leaf 0xb to LAPIC PT VMs. This patch
removes that condition and exposes virtual topology via CPUID leaf 0xb.

now only SOS need decide boot with de-privilege or direct boot mode, while
for other pre-launched VMs, they should use direct boot mode.
this patch merge boot/guest/direct_boot_info.c &
boot/guest/deprivilege_boot_info.c into boot/guest/vboot_info.c,
and change init_direct_vboot_info() function name to init_general_vm_boot_info().
in init_vm_boot_info(), depend on get_sos_boot_mode(), SOS may choose to init
vm boot info by setting the vm_sw_loader to deprivilege specific one; for SOS
using DIRECT_BOOT_MODE and all other VMS, they will use general_sw_loader as
vm_sw_loader and go through init_general_vm_boot_info() for virtual boot vm
info filling.
this patch also move spurious handler initilization for de-privilege mode from
boot/guest/deprivilege_boot.c to boot/guest/vboot_info.c, and just set it in
deprivilege sw_loader before irq enabling.

Handle the PIO reset register that is defined in host ACPI:
Parse host FADT table to get the host reset register info, and emulate
it for Service OS:
- return all '1' for guest reads because the read behavior is not defined
in ACPI.
- ignore guest writes with the reset value to stop it from resetting host;
if guest writes other values, passthru it to hardware in case the reset
register supports other functionalities.

This patch implements triple fault vmexit handler and base on VM types:
- post-launched VMs: shutdown_target_vm() injects S5 PIO write to request
DM to shut down the target VM.
- pre-launched VMs: shut down the guest.
- SOS: similarly, but shut down all the non real-time post-launched VMs that
depend to SOS before shutting down SOS.

1) According SDM Vol 3, Chap 29.1.2, Any VM exit caused by TPR virtualization
is trap-like: the instruction causing TPR virtualization completes before the VM
exit occurs (for example, the value of CS:RIP saved in the guest-state area of
the VMCS references the next instruction). So we need to retain the RIP.
2) The previous implement only consides the situation the guest will reduce the
TPR. However, the guest will increase it. So we need to update the PPR before we
find a deliverable interrupt. For examples: a) if the guest increase the TPR before
a irq windows vmexit, we need to update the PPR when check whether there has a pending
delivery interrupt or not; b) if the guest increase the TPR, then an external irq raised,
we need to update the PPR when check whether there has a deliverable interrupt to inject
to guest.

For prelaunched VM, Service OS and postlaunched RT VM, we only need the vRTC
provides backed-up date, so we could use the simple vRTC which implemented
in hypervisor. For postlaunched VM (which is not a RT VM), we needs the device
module to emulate the vRTC for it.

There're some instructions which not support bit 0(w bit) flag but which
memory opcode size is fixed and the memory opcode size is not equal to the
register opcode size. In our code, there is movzx (which opcode is 0F B7)
which memory opcode size is fixed to 16 bits. So add a flag VIE_OP_F_WORD_OP
to indicate a instruction which memory opcode size is fixed to 16 bits.

According to SDM Vol4 2.1, modify vcpuid according to msr ia32_misc_enable:
- Clear CPUID.01H: ECX[3] if guest disabled monitor/mwait.
- Clear CPUID.80000001H: EDX[20] if guest set XD Bit Disable.
- Limit the CPUID leave maximum value to 2 if guest set Limit CPUID MAXVal.

Guest MSR_IA32_MISC_ENABLE read simply returns the value set by guest.
Guest MSR_IA32_MISC_ENABLE write:
- Clear EFER.NXE if MSR_IA32_MISC_ENABLE_XD_DISABLE set.
- MSR_IA32_MISC_ENABLE_MONITOR_ENA:
Allow guest to control this feature when HV doesn't use this feature and hw has no bug.

currently, ACRN hypervisor can either boot from sbl/abl or uefi, that's
why we have different firmware method under bsp & boot dirs.
but the fact is that we actually have two different operations based on
different guest boot mode:
1. de-privilege-boot: ACRN hypervisor will boot VM0 in the same context as
native(before entering hypervisor) - it means hypervisor will co-work with
ACRN UEFI bootloader, restore the context env and de-privilege this env
to VM0 guest.
2. direct-boot: ACRN hypervisor will directly boot different pre-launched
VM(including SOS), it will setup guest env by pre-defined configuration,
and prepare guest kernel image, ramdisk which fetch from multiboot modules.
this patch is trying to:
- rename files related with firmware, change them to guest vboot related
- restruct all guest boot stuff in boot & bsp dirs into a new boot/guest dir
- use de-privilege & direct boot to distinguish two different boot operations
this patch is pure file movement, the rename of functions based on old assumption will
be in the following patch.

Previously ACPI PM1A register info was hardcoded to 0 in HV for generic boards,
but SOS still can know the real PM1A info so the system would hang if user
trigger S3 in SOS. Enabling PM1A register info fixup will let HV be able to
intercept the operation on PM1A and then make basic function of S3 work for
all boards;

IRTE is freed if ptirq entry is released from remove_msix_remapping() or
remove_intx_remapping(). But if it's called from ptdev_release_all_entries(),
e.g. SOS shutdown/reboot, IRTE is not freed.
This patch adds a release_cb() callback function to do any architectural
specific cleanup. In x86, it's used to release IRTE.
On VM shutdown, vpci_cleanup() needs to remove MSI/MSI-X remapping on
ptirq entries, thus it should be called before ptdev_release_all_entries().

Shared buffer is allocated by VM and is protected by SMAP.
Accessing to shared buffer between stac/clac pair will invalidate

1) For some instructions (like movsx, movzx which we support), there're two operands
and the source operand size is not equal to the dest operand size. In this case,
if we update the memory operand size according to the bit 0(w bit) of opcode,
we will lost the register operand size. This patch tries to fix this by calculating
memory operand size when we want to use it.
2) Calculate memory operand size form operand size and the bit 0(w bit) of opcode
when we want to operate on memory operand.

If the vmcall param passed from guest is representing a vmid, we should
make sure it is a valid one because it is a pre-condition of following
get_vm_from_vmid(). And then we don't need to do NULL VM pointer check
in is_valid_vm() because get_vm_from_vmid() would never return NULL.

There are 2 reasons why SOS ve820 has to be separated from host e820:
- in hybrid mode, SOS may not own all the host memory.
- when SOS is being re-launched, it needs an untainted version of host
e820 to create SOS ve820.
This patch creates sos_e820 table for SOS and keeps host e820 intact
during SOS creation.

In previous code, only for pre-launched VM, hypervisor would create
vuart console for each VM. But for post-launched VM, no vuart is
created.
In this patch, create vuart according to configuration in structure
acrn_vm_config. As the new configuration is set for pre-launched VM and
post-launched VM, and the vuart initialize process is common for each
VM, so, remove CONFIG_PARTITION_MODE from vuart related code.

According to SDM 10.6.1, if dest fields is 0xffU for register
ICR operation, that means the IPI is for broadcast.
According to SDM 10.12.9, 0xffffffffU of dest fields for x2APIC
means IPI is for broadcast.
We add new parameter to vlapic_calc_dest() to show whether the
dest is for broadcast. For IPI, we will set it according to
dest fields. For ioapic and MSI, we hardcode it to false because
no broadcast for ioapic and MSI.

the problem is : System will crash when run crashme.
The root cause of this problem is that when the ACRN_REQUEST_EXCP flag is set by calling
the vcpu_make_request function, the flag is not cleared.
Add the following statement to the vcpu_inject_exception function to fix the problem:
bitmap_test_and_clear_lock(ACRN_REQUEST_EXCP, &vcpu->arch.pending_req);
Tested that one night, there was no crash.

In theory, we should trap out all the x2apic MSR access if APICv is not enabled.
When "Use TPR shadow" and "Virtualize x2APIC mode" are enabled, we could disable
TPR interception; when APICv is fully enabled, besides TPR, we could disable all
MSR read, EOI and self-IPI interception; when we pass through lapic to guest, we
could disable all the MSR access interception except XAPICID/LDR read and ICR write.

When in fully APICv mode, we enable VID. All pending delivery interrupts
will inject to VM before VM entry. So there is no pending delivery interrupt.
However, if VID is not enabled, we can only inject pending delivery interrupt
one by one. So we always need to do this check.

apicv_advanced_inject_intr is used if APICv fully features are supported,
it uses PIR to inject interrupt. otherwise, apicv_basic_inject_intr is used.

The APICv ops is decided once the APICv feature on the physical platform is detected.
We will use apicv_advanced_ops if the physical platform support fully APICv feature;
otherwise, we will use apicv_basic_ops.

Not every instruction supports the operand-size bit (w). This patch try to correct
what done in commit-id 9df8790 by setting a flag VIE_OP_F_BYTE_OP to indicate which
instruction supports the operand-size bit (w).
This bug is found by removing VMX_PROCBASED_CTLS2_VAPIC_REGS VMCS setting when the
physical doesn't support this APICv feature. However, if emulated this in MRB board,
the android can't boot because when switch to trusty world, it will check
"Delivery Status" in ICR first. It turns out that this Bit Test instruction is not
emulated correctly.

Currently, the previous configurations about guest_flags set by DM will
not be cleared when shutdown the vm. Then it might bring issue for the
next dm-launched vm.
For example, if we create one vm with LAPIC_PASSTHROUGH flag and shutdown it.
Then the next dm-launched vm will has the LAPIC_PASSTHROUGH flag set no matter
whether we set it in DM.
This patch clears all the DM set flags when shtudown vm.

Currently vpid is not released in reset_vcpu() hence the vpid resource
could be exhausted easily if guests are re-launched.
This patch assigns vpid according to the fixed mapping of runtime vm_id
and vcpu_id to guarantee the uniqueness of vpid.

exceptions it might be a SOS_VM, we should validate them.
- Please be aware that some hypercall might have limitation on specific

If launch two UOS with same UUID by acrn-dm, current code path will
return same VM instance to the acrn-dm, this will crash the two UOS.
Check VM state and make sure it's in VM_STATE_INVALID state before
creating a VM.

When shutting down SOS VM, the shared sbuf is released from guest OS, but
the per cpu sbuf pointers in hypervisor keep inact. This creates a problem
that after SOS is re-launched, hypervisor could write to the shared
buffer that no longer exists.
This patch implements sbuf_reset() and call it from reset_vcpu() to
reset sbuf pointers.

Add TPR below threshold implement for "Virtual-interrupt delivery" not support.
Windows will use it to delay interrupt handle.
Complete all the interrupts in IRR as long as they are higher priority than
current TPR. Once current IRR priority is less than current TPR enable TPR
threshold to IRR, so that if guest reduces the TPR threshold, it would be good
to take below TPR threshold exit and let interrupts to go thru.

Enable vMCE feature to boot windows guest.
vMCE is set in EDX from Microsoft TLFS spec, to support windows guest
vMCA and vMCE should be supported by guest CPUID.
Support MSR_IA32_MCG_CAP and MSR_IA32_MCG_STATUS reading when vMCE is enabled,
but they are not emulated yet, so return 0 directly.

In the presence of SOS, ACRN uses fallback_iommu_domain which is the same
used by SOS, to assign domain to devices during ACRN init. Also it uses
fallback_iommu_domain when DM requests ACRN to remove device from UOS domain.
This patch changes the design of assign/remove_iommu_device to avoid the
concept of fallback_iommu_domain and its setup. This way ACRN can commonly
treat pre-launched VMs bringup w.r.t. IOMMU domain creation.

Currently VM id of NORMAL_VM is allocated dymatically, we need to make
VM id statically for FuSa compliance.
This patch will pre-configure UUID for all VMs, then NORMAL_VM could
get its VM id/configuration from vm_configs array by indexing the UUID.
If UUID collisions is found in vm configs array, HV will refuse to
load the VM;

For Pre-launched VMs, ACRN uses mptable for reporting APIC IDs to guest OS.
In current code, ACRN uses physical LAPIC IDs for vLAPIC IDs.
This patch is to let ACRN use vCPU id for vLAPIC IDs and also report the same
when building mptable. ACRN should still use physical LAPIC IDs for SOS
because host ACPI tables are passthru to SOS.

For pre-launched VMs MSI/MSI-x configuration writes are not intercepted by ACRN.
It is pass-thru and interrupts land in ACRN and the guest vector is injected into
the VM's vLAPIC. With this patch, ACRN intercepts MSI/MSI-x config writes and take
the code path to remap interrupt vector/APIC ID as it does for SOS/UOS.

After using get_vm_from_vmid(), vm pointer is always not NULL. But there are still many NULL pointer checks.
This commit replaced the NULL vm pointer check with a validation check which checks the vm status.
In addition, NULL check for pointer returned by get_sos_vm() and get_vm_config() is removed.

Add the default handlers for PIO and MMIO access which returns all
FFs on read and discards write. These default handlers are registered
when SOS VM or pre-launched VM is created.

When RTVM is trying to poweroff by itself, we use INIT to
kick vCPUs off the non-root mode.
For RTVM, only if vm state equal VM_POWERING_OFF, we take action to pause
the vCPUs with INIT signal. Otherwise, we will reject the pause request.

We set the vm state as VM_POWERING_OFF when RTVM is trying to poweroff by itself.
We will check it when trying to pause vCPUs of RTVM. Only if vm state equal to
VM_POWERING_OFF, we take action to pause the vCPUs of RTVM. Otherwise, we will
reject the pause request.

The virtual pm port of RTVM is intercepted by HV. But the HV needs to inform the DM as well.
So we will forward the virtual S5 request to DM too
The handler in HV just set the pm state flag (VM_POWERING_OFF) which indicate that the RTVM is powering
off by itself. Meanwhile, there are data resources in VHM and DM should be released once we handle the PM
of RTVM in HV. So, return to DM to go through the entire VM destroy cycles to release the resources.
During the cycles, the DM will try to pause vm through hypercall. In the hypercall handler in HV, we will
check the pm state flag. If it is set, pause all the vCPUs of the vm. Otherwise, reject the request.
In this way, we can make sure that RTVM can only trigger its s5 by itself. All
other S5 request from external will be rejected.

This patch checks if the GUEST_FLAG_RT is set when GUEST_FLAG_LAPIC_PASSTHROUGH is set.
If GUEST_FLAG_RT is not set while GUEST_FLAG_LAPIC_PASSTHROUGH is set, we will refuse
to boot the VM.
Meanwhile, this patch introduces a new API is_rt_vm.

Currently MSR IA32_MISC_ENABLE is passthrough to guest.
However, guest may change the value of this MSR, which will cause issue in hypervisor.
This patch uses VMX MSR store area to isolate the MSR IA32_MISC_ENABLE between guest and host.
TODO:
Some bits of the MSR IA32_MISC_ENABLE is not just per core, but per package.
So need to check if need to prevent guest from setting or clearing these bits that may affect other cores.

Linux access TSC_ADJUST to verify it has not tampered every time when enter idle.
So for RTVM running rt-linux, the access will cause vm exit which affect real-time performance.
This commit pass through TSC_ADJUST to VM with lapic_pt, to avoid TSC_ADJUST caused vm_exit.
For other VMs, TSC_ADJUST msr access is still trapped and emulated.

Preparing for hybrid mode:
- create vE820 for pre-launched VMs and do other init code when the
vm_config->type is PRE_LAUNCHED_VM.
- create ve820.c for each board because without wrapping by
CONFIG_PARTITION_MODE, ve820_entry[] needs to be visible even when
compiling target boards that haven't enabled pre-launched VMs.
- remove create_prelaunched_vm_e820() from vm.c and implement board
specific function for each $(CONFIG_BOARD)/ve820.c. The reasons being:
- don't need to define ve820_entry[32] for those boards that don't
support pre-launched VMs.
- more importantly, this makes it much easier to create different per-VM
vE820 when it's needed.

Remove vmx_cr0/vmx_cr4 from ext_context structure, they are duplicated
with cr0/cr4 fields in run_context.
Switch cr0/cr4 of run_context structure on demand when do world switch.
Remove vmx_cr0_read_shadow/vmx_cr4_read_shadow from ext_context structure.
These fields should be same for both normal world and secure world.

The init page tables installed in either cpu_primary.S or trampoline.S
are 1:1 mapping and won't be changed in the future.
The 'actual' hypervisor page table installed in enable_paging() is 1:1
mapping currently but it could be changed in the future. Both hva2hpa() and
hpa2hva() are implemented based on these page tables and can't be used
when the init page tables take effect.
This patch does the following cleanup:
- remove all hva2hpa()/hpa2hva() before calling enable_paging()
- get_hv_image_base() returns HVA, not HPA. So add hva2hpa() for all cases
that are called afte enable_paging().

Add two functions to combine constraint for APICv:
is_apicv_basic_feature_supported: check the physical platform whether support
"Use TPR shadow", "Virtualize APIC accesses" and "Virtualize x2APIC mode"
is_apicv_advanced_feature_supported: check the physical platform whether support
"APIC-register virtualization", "Virtual-interrupt delivery" and
"Process posted interrupts".
If the physical platform only support APICv basic feature, enable "Use TPR shadow"
and "Virtualize APIC accesses" for xAPIC mode; enable "Use TPR shadow" and
"Virtualize x2APIC mode" for x2APIC. Otherwise, if the physical platform support
APICv advanced feature, enable APICv feature for xAPIC mode and x2APIC mode.

Except for few translation structures in x86 IOMMU, all translation
structures are 128-bit. All the translation structures used by ACRN
are 128 bit. So removed multiple definitions and defined a struct
that accomodates 128 bit entries.

In partition mode, unassign_iommu_device() is called from vpci_cleanup(),
so when shutdown_vm() is called, unassign_iommu_device() could fail because
of "domain id mismatch" and DMAR is not cleared.
Also move destroy_ept() after the call to destroy_iommu_domain().

platform_acpi_info.h should be BOARD specific so move the header file
to configs/$(CONFIG_BOARD)/ folder.
So the target acpi info file detect process is:
Compiler search for $(CONFIG_BOARD)_acpi_info.h under
hypervisor/arch/x86/$(CONFIG_BOARD)/ first (the file is supposed to be
generated by offline tool so it is not included in original source), if
found, then the file is the target acpi info file. If not and at the
same time the ENFORCE_VALIDATED_ACPI_INFO Kconfig was set, the compiler
will stop and hint user to add target acpi info file by offline tool.
If ENFORCE_VALIDATED_ACPI_INFO was unset, then compiler will continue to
search for platform_acpi_info.h as target acpi info file under
hypervisor/arch/x86/$(CONFIG_BOARD) folder (with this file we could bypass
ENFORCE_VALIDATED_ACPI_INFO check and benifit for development). If this
file is not exist, then hypervisor/arch/x86/configs/platform_acpi_info.h
will be included as final target acpi info.
The process should work for UEFI path also, with a valid platform acpi
info file, S3/S5 should work on UEFI platform.

Set when the local APIC detects an illegal vector (one in the range 0 to 15)
in the message that it is sending. This occurs as the result of a write to the

LVT ERROR is an edge and fixed mode interrupt. We could call vlapic_accept_intr
to fire it directly. Otherwise, if LVT ERR vector is invalid, an invalid
interrupt will be accepted in IRR.

Currently for pre-launched VMs, HV intends to do EPT mapping for all GPA
space, which implies that it wastes HPA to back PCI hole and other vE820
entries that are not backed by physical memory.
This patch solves this issue and fixes ve820 entries whose length is not
aligned to 4K, and changes the lowmem entry's start GPA from 1MB to 2MB.

When CAT is supported, UOS can setup acrn_vm_config.clos, to use CAT
feature. Eg.,

1) The previous implementaion will recalculate the whole EOI-exit bitmap for
each RTE once the destination, trigger mode, delivery mode or vector of a RTE
has changed and update the EOI-exit bitmap for each vcpu of the VM.
In this patch, only set the corresponding bit of EOI-exit bitmap for
a vcpu when a level triggered interrupt has accepted in IRR or clear the
corresponding bit of EOI-exit bitmap for a vcpu when a dege triggered interrupt
has accepted in IRR which means only update a bit of EOI-exit bitmap in a vcpu
when updating TMR.
2) Rename set eoi_exit related API to set eoi_exit_bitmap.

There are two bugs related to PDPT address calculation for PAE mode.
1. Current code doesn't ignore the "Ignored" fileds when load pdpt registers.
Mask the "Ignored" fileds according to SDM Figure 4-7 Vol3.
2. Current code only ignores 4bits instead of 5bits in low "Ignored" filed when
calculate PDPT address in PAE mode for guest memory address translation.

DCR is initialized to 0 which means divisor shift is 1. Currently, both
are initialized to 0 which result in incorrect APIC timer counts if the
vLAPIC's DCR is never programmed.
This bug was exposed by OVMF because OVMF does not program DCR during
LAPIC initialization.

HV passes the return value of vmcall by register RAX unconditionally.
However, if the vmcall is undefined for a guest, RAX value of guest vcpu
should not be changed.
According to SDM Vol. 3C 30-9, VMCALL is allowed from any CPL in guest.
VMCALL is NOT allowed from CPL > 0 in vmx root mode.
ACRN hypervisor doesn't call VMCALL in vmx root mode, though.
In current code, ACRN also deny VMCALL from CPL > 0 in guest.
So for this case, #GP will not be injected, instead, modify the RAX to
notify the return value.

ACRN HV hide VMX capability from guest. Only vmcall from SOS or some
specific vmcall from UOS are allowed.
Unsupported vmcall from UOS should be considered a "not in VMX operation" case,
and should be handled first according to SDM Vol. 3C 30-9.

Removed usage of snoopy_mem, and added code to achieve

This patch is a modified one. It removes the usage
of acrn_vm struct from inside vtd.c.
It also puts struct iommu_domain inside vtd.h,
from vtd.c.
It modifies the signature of init_iommu_domain
in order to remove dependency on acrn_vm from
inside vtd.c.
Incorporated comments from Jason and Eddie.
Changed the name of sos_vm_domain to
fallback_iommu_domain
Removed any reference of sos_vm from vtd.[c|h]

With lapic_pt based on vlapic, guest always see vitual apic_id.
We need to convert the virtual apic_id from guest to physical apic_id
before writing ICR.
SMP for VM with lapic_pt is supported with this fix.

Panic should only be used when system booting. Once the system boot done,
it could never be used. While ASSERT could be used in some situations, such
as, there are some pre-assumption for some code, using ASSERT here for debug.

Acrn doesn't support nested virtualization, so vmx operations should be
undefined opcode for guest.
Current code handle vmx operations with unhandled_vmexit_handler.
According to the spec, if guest execute vmx operation instruction, a #UD
exception should be inject.
This patch inject a #UD exception when guest execute vmx operation instruction.

For VM with local apic pt for realtime scenatios, we support virtio device with PMD backend.
But we still need to inject MSI to notify the front-end, to avoid changing the front-end drivers.
Since the lapic is passed through, irq injection to vlapic won't work.
This commit fix it by sending IPI with vector need to inject.

This commit extend lapic pass-through for DM launched VM, generally for hard RT scenarios.
Similar to the partition mode, the vlapic is working under the xapic mode at first, only
when x2apic mode is enabled, lapic is passed through, because the physical LAPICs are
under x2apic mode.
Main changes includes:
- add is_lapic_pt() to check if a vm is created with lapic pt or not, to combine
codes of partition mode and DM launched vm with lapic passthrough, including:
- reuse the irq delievery function and rename it to dispatch_interrupt_lapic_pt();
- reuse switch_apicv_mode_x2apic();
- reuse ICR handling codes to avoid malicious IPI;
- intercept ICR/APICID/LDR msr access when lapic_pt;
- for vm with lapic passthrough, irq is always disabled under root mode.

As we enable Interrupt Remapping, bit positions in IOAPIC RTEs
have a different syntax for programming. ACRN should handle original
format for vIOAPIC as well IR representation for physical IOAPIC.

Add a API to sanitize vm_configs[] array, in this API, we will do sanity
check for VM configurations and refill some fields in vm_configs[]. If
sanity check is failed, the HV would reject to boot.
About pcpu_bitmap of SOS_VM:
We should not hard code pcpu_bitmap for SOS_VM, this is not convenient for
unconfigured boards. The pcpu_bitmap follows a very simple rule:
All physical CPUs except ocuppied by Pre-launched VMs are all belong to
SOS_VM. In this way, the pcpu_bitmap of a SOS_VM is decided by pcpu_bitmap
status in PRE_LAUNCHED_VMs.
To get the correct pcpu_bitmap of SOS_VM, We need to setup another rule, that
the vm_configs[] array should follow the order of PRE_LAUNCHED_VM - SOS_VM
strictly.
With this patch enabled, the pcpu_bitmap field of sos vm config is not needed
to configure;

Previously I/O emulation completion mode mode was configured in Kconfig:

Now we do not need pending_pre_work anymore, as we can make sure IO request
VCPU resume from where it paused.
Now only three fixed points will try to do schedule:
- vcpu_thread: before vm entry, will check reschedule flag and to it if needed
- default_idle: loop check reschedule flag to see if need switch out
- io request: if IO REQ need DM's handle, it will schedule out

this patch added full context switch support for scheduling, it make sure
each VCPU has its own stack, and added host_sp field in struct sched_object
to record host stack pointer for each switch out object.
Arch related function arch_switch_to is added for context switch.
To benefit debugging, a name[] field is also added into struct sched_object.

validate vm id when call get_vm_from_vmid() any more, we only show VM's
states which their VM type are defined;
If VM name is not configured in config file, then the name is specified

When pcpu enter guest mode, it will call launch_vms() function to launch
VMs in global vm_configs array.
In launch_vms() function, current pcpu will go through vm_config array list
and check whether it is a bsp of configured VM, if yes then it will prepare
corresponding VM and start it. The index of vm_config array will be specified
to VM id.
The first least significant bit in pcpu_bitmap means the bsp of the VM.

Under sharing mode, VM0 is identical with SOS VM. But the coupling of
SOS VM and VM 0 is not friendly for partition mode.

This commit changes the EOI_EXIT_BITMAP as follows:
- add a eoi_exit_bitmap to vlapic structure;
- go through all the RTEs and set eoi_exit_bitmap in the vlapic structure when related RTE fields are modified;
- add ACRN_REQUEST_EOI_EXIT_UPDATE, if eoi_exit_bitmap changed, request the corresponding vcpu to write the bitmap

Current ACRN implementation update TMR bits one time only when related RTE fields changed,
which is not acting like actual hardware.
From SDM vol3 10.8.4:
"Upon acceptance of an interrupt into the IRR, the corresponding TMR bit is cleared for
edge-triggered interrupts and set for leveltriggered interrupts."
This commit change the ACRN implementation to set/clear corresponding TMR bit when inject
intr to vlapic.

SMX should be disabled on guests.
Actually current code assumes SMX is disabled (no VM exit handler for GETSEC
and bit 2 of IA32_FEATURE_CONTROL is set), and this patch simply explicitly

Since both CPUID.01H.ECX[5] and CPUID.01H.ECX[6] are cleared from guest CPUID,
MSR IA32_SMM_MONITOR_CTL is not available in guests.
Need to make sure CR4.SMXE is cleared in guests.

SMRR (System-Management Range Register) is disabled from vMTRR,
so treat IA32_SMRR_PHYSBASE and IA32_SMRR_PHYSMASK as unsupported.
IA32_SMBASE is available only when IA32_VMX_MISC[15] is set.
IA32_FIXED_CTR0/1/2 are available only when CPUID.0AH:EDX[4:0] is non-zero.
Intel Processor Trace feature has been disabled and the associated MSRs
need to be in unsupported_msr[] as well.

Two changes:
1. cpuid leaf 07h has subleaf:
According to SDM 3-194 Vol.2A, Table 3-8, cpuid leaf 07h has sub-leaves.
cpuid.07.eax reports the maximum input for sub-leaves.
Since there is no definition for subleaf > 0 in SDM, hv only supports subleaf 0.
2. In currently hv code, cpuid leaf function 14h is disabled,
CPUID.07H:EBX.INTEL_PROCESSOR_TRACE should be disabled as well.

1) add local_find_vcpuid_entry to find whether a cpuid leaf exist
in vcpuid cache entries.
2) find_vcpuid_entry will return the found entry if local_find_vcpuid_entry
return is not null. Otherwise, call local_find_vcpuid_entry again
when necessary.
In this case, there could eliminate recursion in find_vcpuid_entry.

With SMAP enabled, hypervisor can't access pages that
owned by guest(either SOS or UOS), and an override is
is provided: stac()/clac() to enable/disable access to
guest's memory pages.
Pre-conditon:
Mark hypervisor owned pages as supervisor mode (U/S = 0),
and set all othter memory pages as user mode (U/S = 1).

Intercept IA32_TSC_ADJUST MSR so that writing IA32_TSC_ADJUST from the
guests won't impact the TSC in root mode or potentially other vCPUs in
the same pCPU.
- MSR TSC_ADJUST needs to be isolated between normal and secure world,
so it's included in NUM_WORLD_MSRS.
- Upon writing to either IA32_TSC_ADJUST or IA32_TSC from the guests,
don't write to physical MSRS so it won't impact the host side, but
update the TSC offset VM-execution control.
- don't need to intercept rdmsr for IA32_TIME_STAMP_COUNTER.
- add the missing statement in save_world_ctx() to save the tsc_offset
during world switch.

Currently there are two fields in ext_context to emulate IA32_PAT MSR:
- ia32_pat: hold the value of the emulated IA32_PAT MSR
- vmx_ia32_pat: used for load/store IA32_PAT MSR during world switch
This patch moves ext_context->ia32_pat to the common placeholder for
emulated MSRs acrn_vcpu_arch->guest_msrs[].
Also it renames ext_context->vmx_ia32_pat to ext_context->ia32_pat to
retain same naming convention in struct ext_context.

Create two arrays for emulated MSRs:
- guest_msrs[] in struct acrn_vcpu_arch: emulation for all MSRs that are
included in emulated_guest_msrs[].
- world_msrs[] in struct cpu_context: it has separate copies for secure and
normal world for those MSRs that are in the first NUM_WORLD_MSRS entries
in emulated_guest_msrs[].
Split vmsr.c/emulated_msrs[] into 3 smaller arrays:
- emulated_guest_msrs[]: corresponding MSRs are emulated in guest_msrs[]
- mtrr_msrs[]: emulated MTRRs are saved in vMTRR module
- unsupported_msrs[]: GP for any guest accesses

The previous would reserve memory for trusty in SOS kernel. Howerer,
there would no available 16 MB continue memory any more after a long time.
This result in allocating memory for trusty failed. This patch will reserve
memory for trusty in ACRN hypervisor in which case the memory allocation
for trusty will never fail.

- Put most of the emulated MSR number in emulated_msrs[], and remove
the individual calls to enable_msr_interception().
- vcpu_thread() injects General Purpose exception to the guest if any
VMEXIT handler doesn't return 0. This patch removes vcpu_inject_gp()
from all MSR VMEXIT handlers to keep the code clean.

`@return` is dedicated for brief description of return values, not for comments
stating actual return values. In addition, sphinx + breathe does not join
multiple adjacent `@return`. This results in multiple `Return` sections in the
generated document, which is confusing.
This patch replaces `@return` with `@retval` for the lists of return
values. Adjacent `@retval` can be joined into one list by breathe.
v1 -> v2:
* Replace return value descriptions like `negative` and `positive` with
expressions like `<0` and `>0` in `@retval`.
* Keep the list of `@retval` comprehensive, even when there is a `@return` to
generally describe what the return value means.
* Drop duplicated `@return` when it does not give more information than the

Currently guest IA32_TSC_AUX MSR is loaded manually right before VM
entry, and saved right after VM exit.
This patch enables VM-Entry Control and VM-Exit Control to switch
MSR IA32_TSC_AUX between host and guest automatically. This helps to
keep vcpu_thread() function and struct acrn_vcpu cleaner.
Also it removes the dead code of intercepting IA32_TSC_AUX.

This patch introduce a new mode of IO request completion, polling mode.
Now, the sketch of ioreq process can be,
A. UOS vcpu0 generate PIO/MMIO ->
B. pcpu1(vcpu0 of UOS) trap into HV ->
C. pcpu1 build ioreq, send IPI and enter idle ->
D.1 pcpu0(vcpu0 of SOS) response IPI,
D.2 pcpu0 handle the ioreq in HV, kernel, DM,
D.3 pcpu0 mark ioreq as complete,
D.4 pcpu0 hypercall to enter HV ->
E.1 pcpu0 send IPI to wake pcpu1 up
E.2 UOS vcpu0 continue running
With this change, it skips D.4, E.1 steps. In step C, pcpu1 will enter a
polling ioreq state idle after send out the IPI.
It can save about ~5000 cpu cycles.
In polling mode, we do the polling in idle instead of pause cpu all the
time. It will consume more power. A better way is to use monitor/mwait
instructions which can put cpu into a sleep state with monitoring a
memory address. Unfortunately, APL has bug with monitor. We can gather
all ioreqs state into one monitorable memory and take advantage of
monitor/mwait for future platform.
The way polling or notification is per VM. We can config VMs in
different mode. By default, IO request completion will use notification
mode for all VMs. We can switch it by Kconfig.

In current code, DMA remapping is enabled at very early stage, when there is no
device added.
Devices are added to VT-d context table when creating VMs.
There is potential risk that there may be device DMA transactions when DMA remapping is
enabled, but the device is not added to the VT-d context table. (Eg. this could happen in UEFI
enviroment when USB keyboard use in efi intenal shell.)
This patch defers DMA remapping enabling until vm creation.

ioreqs acrossing VM reset is meaningless. So we reset their status when
VM reset.
Please note, device model and service os need to handle various ioreqs
pending status in emergency reset condition carefully. Otherwises, the
post processing of such ioreqs might overwrite this reset.

ACRN, in partition mode, supports LAPIC pass-thru to guests. Guest needs
to use x2APIC mode of LAPIC for pass-thru to be enabled.
ACRN also needs the user to configure lapic_pt to true in vm_desc
for the VM.
Interrupt Command Register (ICR) is the only APIC register that is
intercepted. Reference code in partition/vm_description.c enables
LAPIC pass-thru for vm2.

When guest switches from xAPIC mode to x2APIC mode of vLAPIC operation,
MSRs are used to access vLAPIC. This patch adds APICv support for
MSR accesses to vLAPIC. Switching from xAPIC to x2APIC is supported via
APIC BASE MSR. Other modifications like disabling and switching back to
xAPIC are not supported.

When guest uses vLAPIC in x2APIC mode, ICR write is a single MSR write.
Also, the destination field for device interrupts and IPIs should not be
handled in the same way as xAPIC mode. This patch adds support for x2APIC

Replace dynamic memory allocation in memory management with static memory allocation.
Since the static memory allocation can guarantee the allocation never failed, so
split_large_page and construct_pgentry don't need to return a errno any more.
Besides, the destroy_ept don't need to free page any more. Instead, it would memset
the eptp to 0 to make sure we can't walk this paging table again.

After enabling vPCI in hypervisor for vm0, UOS may not able be launched
successfully. Consider this scenario (take MSI-X for example):
- DM makes hypercall to hypervisor to do MSI-X remapping on behalf of
UOS guests.
- After the hypercall, VHM module in SOS kernel updates the physical
MSI-X table with the physical Message Data/Addr.
- These MMIO write requests are intercepted by hypervisor, which will
call ptdev_msix_remap() to do MSI-S remapping.
It may fail due to 2 possible reasons:
1) wrong target VM because:
hypervisor thinks it's a VM0 MSI-X device but they have been registered
as UOS guests through HC_SET_PTDEV_INTR_INFO hypercall.
2) wrong ptdev_msi_info->vmsi_data because:
The virtual MSI-X table is supposed to hold virtual Message data/addr
but the SOS VHM writes the physical ones to it.
This patch resolves these problems by ignoring the HC_VM_PCI_MSIX_REMAP
hypercall, so virtual and physical Message Data are the same from SOS'
perspective and it won't mess up the virtual PCI device in HV.
Also in HC_SET_PTDEV_INTR_INFO handler, vpci updates the target VM
when the PCI devices are assigned to different VMs.
The UOS' MSI/MSI-X remapping is triggered by hypervisor when SOS (either
DM or VHM) updates the Message Data/Addr.

Now, UOS will use hypercall to init BSP state, we could remove
set_bsp_real_mode_entry() and set_bsp_protect_mode_regs().
For SOS, GDT will inherit from SBL or UEFI. For UOS, DM will
prepare GDT. We don't need hypervisor to prepare GDT for guest.
The entry_addr of vcpu struct could be removed. The guest entry
is set through BSP rip register.
GUEST_CFG_OFFSET is not needed any more after this patchset.

For UOS, there is no BSP init state saved in hv. We always need

The vcpu state is initialized outside of init_guest_state:
- SOS BSP state is initialized in SOS loader
- UOS BSP state is initialized in UOS loader
- AP state is initialized during SIPI signal emulation
We could make init_guest_state only update the vcpu state
to VMCS structure.

With reset_vcpu_regs as pre-condition, we only need to set
cs_selector and cs_base for AP.
We call set_ap_entry in two places:
1. When emulation AP SIPI
2. When sos BSP resume from S3. The BSP is resumed to real
mode with entry set to wakeup_vec. We call set_ap_entry
API here with entry twisted from wakeup_vec.

In the current hypervisor design, when HPA is not
found for the specified gpa by calling gpa2hpa or
local_gpa2hpa, 0 will be returned as a error code,
but 0 may be a valid HPA for vm0; error checking
is missed when invoking gpa2hpa or local_gpa2hpa;
when invoking lookup_address, the caller guarantees
that parameter pointer pml4_page and pointer pg_size
is not NULL.
If local_gpa2hpa/gpa2hpa returns a invalid HPA,
it means that this function fails to find the
HPA of the specified gpa of vm. If local_gpa2hpa/gpa2hpa
return value is a valid HPA, it means that this
function have found the HPA of the specified gpa of vm.
Each valid vm's EPTP is initialized during vm creating,
vm's EPTP is valid until this vm is destroyed. So the caller
can guarantee parameter pointer pml4_page is not NULL.
The caller uses a temporary variable to store page size.
So the caller can guarantee parameter pointer pg_size
is not NULL.
In this patch, define a invalid HPA for gpa2hpa and
local_gpa2hpa;add some error checking when invoking
local_gpa2hpa/gpa2hpa;add precondition for lookup_address
function and remove redundant error checking.

1. The wrong operand size is assigned in instruction decode phase
if the operand size is 1 byte.
According to the SDM, the bit 0(w bit) of opcode should be checked
first to detect whether the operand size is 1 byte. Then, check
whether there is prefix to overwrite the default operand size.
The original instruction decode doesn't care about the operand
size. But do opsize fixup during instruction emulation phase.
With ACRN we need operand size packed to ioreq and send to DM
after instruction decode.
2. We should always touch the GPA by following opsize to avoid side
effect (especially when GPA is for a MMIO).

This patch fixes the following issue pointed by Xiangyang and Junjie.
There are some macro arguments acting as formal parameter names.
Drop such arguments since they make no difference to the expanded
implementation and they might confuse some developers.
Here is an example.

Currently the acrn-hypervisor is using the PLATFORM_IPI vector to notify
the sos_kernel. And then sos_kernel will handle the notification from acrn
hypervisor in PLATFORM_IPI ISR. But as the PLATFORM_IPI ISR can be registered
by the other modules, it will have the conflict when trying to register
acrn intr ISR. So the HYPERVISOR_CALLBACK_VECTOR will be used instead.
In order to switch the notification vector from PLATFORM_IPI to
HYPERVISOR_CALLBACK_VECTOR, one API is added so that sos can configure
the up-notifier interrrupt vector.

MISRA-C requires that there should be no unused parameters in
functions.
In some cases, we will keep the unused parameters.
vmexit handler is one example. It is used as function pointer.
Some of the vmexit handlers use the input parameter 'vcpu', some of
them don't. We still need to keep the unused parameters 'vcpu' for
those handlers don't use 'vcpu'.
This patch removes the unused parameters that is not being used
unconditionally.

MISRA-C requires that every switch case shall be terminated with break
to avoid the unintentional fall through.
The code will become redundant if we enforce this rule.
So, we will keep the current implementation for the following two cases.
1. The fall through is intentional.
2. The function is returned in the switch case.
If we decide to eliminate the mutiple returns in one function later,
this case would be handled properly at that time.
What this patch does:
- add the mssing break for the default case
- add the pre condition for some functions and remove the corresponding
panic which will never happen since the function caller could guarantee
the pre condition based on the code implementation

The hypercall can be used by SOS/DM to monitor UOS
pass-thru devices' interrupt data; and if an "interrupt
storm" happens in UOS, it can be used to delay the UOS
PTdev interrupt's injection for sometime.
The two functions are implemented by one hypercall with
two sub-commands, and with the data/params in the buffer.

This patch is to enhance the feature of "interrupt storm
mitigation"; when interrupt storm happens on one UOS
it should keep as smaller effect to SOS as possible.
Add variables in PTdev entry & VM, used to record one
UOS's pass-thru devices' interrupt data; add a function
to collect the data.
Also add a timer used to delay UOS pass-thru devices'
interrupt injection if an "interrupt storm" detected
by SOS.

MISRAC has requirement about implict conversion: actual to formal
param. This patch is used to fix part of these violations.
1.Add a new structure seg_desc_vmcs to hold the VMCS field address of
segment selector to clean up seg_desc structure.
2.Add the definition of maximum MSI entry and the relevant judgement.
3.The violations in shell.c, logmsg.c will be fixed in other series of
patches with modification of function snprintf(), vsnprintf() and other
related usages.

In the current hypervisor hypercall, first all vcpu is
allocated to SOS, vcpu's vm field is initialized to vm0.
When the vcpu is offlined, vcpu will be paused and vcpu's
vm field is set as NULL by DM. When UOS is created, vcpu's
vm field is set as UOS's vm. So when vmcall_vmexit_handler
is invoked, vcpu's vm filed is always non-NULL.
error checking for vm pointer is done in the function
"vmcall_vmexit_handler", vmcall_vmexit_handler will
guarantee that vm is vm0.
So all hypercall functions (these functions is just for handler
hypercall, except vmcall_vmexit_handler) don't need to check
whether invoking vm is NULL and don't need to check whether
invoking vm is vm0 or not.
Remove related invoking vm error checking for hypercall handling.

MISRAC has requirements about literal value requires a U suffix and
signed/unsigned conversion with cast. This patch is used to solve
these violations.

According to SDM 4.6 Access Rights definition, if SMAP/SMEP
is enabled, more conditions are used to decide the access rights
like SMAP/SMEP, EFLAGS.AC, R/W bit in every paging-structure entry
for page walking.
This patch add the check to guest page walking function and inject
page fault accordingly.

The current movs emulation has issues:
1. it use gva to get/put data.
2. it only support src and dst operand are memory which does not
apply to our case (one of them should be mmio and triggers
EPT voilation).
This patch fix the issue by:
1. convert the address from gva to hva before access it.
2. handle mmio emulation.
Also fix the issue introduced by previous instruction reshuffle
patchset:
1. the desc validation should be only applied to none-64bit mode.
2. gva2gpa should be given correct guest virtual address.
Specailly for movs, we cache the dst gpa if the check during
movs decoding success. And use it directly during movs
emulation.

change the pass-thru device's softirq lock & entry list into
per VM, so one VM's PT device interrupt process will not
interfere with other VMs; especially in case one user OS

or referenced in code analyzed.
In some cases, we would like to keep the non-called functions for code
completeness, such as
vcpu_inject_extint/vcpu_inject_nmi/vcpu_inject_gp/vcpu_inject_pf
/vcpu_inject_ud/vcpu_inject_ac/vcpu_inject_ss.
This pacth removes some functions that are independent and are not
called in our code base.

MISRA-C requires that each parameter in the MACRO shall be in brackets.
In some cases, adding brackets for all of the parameters may not be a
perfect solution.
For example, it may affect the code readability when there are many
parameters used in the MACRO.
And duplicated brackets will appear when one MACRO called another MACRO
which is using same parameters.
This patch convert some MACROs to inline functions to avoid such cases.

In current code, the address translation type for passthrough devices
in SOS is passthrough type, which means the device in SOS can access
the whole physcial memory.
This patch uses SOS EPT to translate address for passthrough
devices. So that the memory of VMM or trusty can be protected from
SOS PTDev.

For the instructions other than MOVS, one operand is register
and another one is memory which trigger EPT voilation. In this
case, there is one possibility that EPT voilation happens before
guest fault:
the fault is triggered by related guest PTE access bit
voilation (like write to a gva with R/W bit cleared in PTE).
So we do this kind of check and inject exception to guest
accordingly during instruction decoding phase.

Unlike the other instructions we emulated, MOVS has two operands
both are memory.
So we need to check whether the operand is valid GVA. With VMX
enabled, the src operand is always checked first by VMX. Which
means if src operand is not valid GVA, it will trigger fault
in guest before trigger EPT. So we don't need to check src
operand. Only need to check dst operand here.

According to SDM vol3 25.1.1
With VMX enabled, following exception will be handled by guest
without trigger VM exit:
- faults based on privilege level
- general protection due to relevent segment being unusable
- general protection due to offset beyond limit of relevent segment
- alignment check exception
ACRN always assume VMX is enabled. So we don't need to these check
in instruction emulation. But we need to do page fault related check.

The apicv is one hardware acceleration feature of vlapic. All vlapic
APIs should keep vlapic_ as the prefix.

From SDM Vol3 10.4.6:
Some processors permit software to modify the APIC ID. However, the
ability of software to modify the APIC ID is processor model specific.
Because of this, operating system software should avoid writing to the
local APIC ID register.
So to permit change APIC ID is not one *must* feature. Keep it simple,
we are also reject to modify it.
This patch does code cleaning up for LAPIC ID related emulation.

which are normally used in "get" functions.

This patch adds code to support read-only RTC support for guests
run by partition mode ACRN. It supports RW for CMOS address port 0x70
and RO for CMOS data port 0x71. Reads to CMOS RAM offsets are fetched
by reading CMOS h/w directly and writes to CMOS offsets are discarded.

after updated cpu context get/set method, the vcpu_dumreg cmd is not
correct anymore as the registers may read from VMCS but meantime hv
shell may not be running on target vcpu.
this patch take use of smp_call_function for vcpu dumpreg and make the
dump always come from correct vcpu.

Now the DM has adopted the new VHM request state transitions and
REQ_STATE_FAILED is obsolete since neither VHM nor kernel mediators will set the
state to FAILED.
This patch drops the definition to REQ_STATE_FAILED in the hypervisor, makes
''processed'' unsigned to make the compiler happy about typing and simplifies
error handling in the following ways.
* (dm_)emulate_(pio|mmio)_post no longer returns an error code, by introducing a
constraint that these functions must be called after an I/O request
completes (which is the case in the current design) and assuming
handlers/VHM/DM will always give a value for reads (typically all 1's if the
requested address is invalid).
* emulate_io() now returns a positive value IOREQ_PENDING to indicate that the
request is sent to VHM. This mitigates a potential race between
dm_emulate_pio() and pio_instr_vmexit_handler() which can cause
emulate_pio_post() being called twice for the same request.
* Remove the ''processed'' member in io_request. Previously this mirrors the
state of the VHM request which terminates at either COMPLETE or FAILED. After
the FAILED state is removed, the terminal state will always be constantly
COMPLETE. Thus the mirrored ''processed'' member is no longer useful.
Note that emulate_instruction() will always succeed after a reshuffle, and this
patch takes that assumption in advance. This does not hurt as that returned
value is not currently handled.
This patch makes it explicit that I/O emulation is not expected to fail. One
issue remains, though, which occurs when a non-aligned cross-boundary access
happens. Currently the hypervisor, VHM and DM adopts different policy:
* Hypervisor: inject #GP if it detects that the access crossed boundary
* VHM: deliver to DM if the access does not complete falls in the range of a
client
* DM: a handler covering part of the to-be-accessed region is picked and
assertion failure can be triggered.
A high-level design covering all these components (in addition to instruction
emulation) is needed for this. Thus this patch does not yet cover the issue.

MISARC has requirements about Marco redefinition, usage of ++ or -- and
assignment operator in boolean expression. This patch is used to solve
these violations.
The modifications are summarized as following:
1.The HC_VM_SET_MEMORY_REGION, HC_VM_GPA2HPA, HC_VM_SET_MEMORY_REGIONS are
redefined twice in acrn_hv_des.h, so delete them to solve the macro
redefinition violations.
2.The macro BUS_LOCK are redefined in bits.h and atomic.h, then delete
the declaration in both two files, add a new declaration in cpu.h and
include the header file.
3.modify the code to solve the improper usage of -- operators in string.c.
4.modify the while loop to for loop to avoid assignment operator in
boolean expression in vlapic.c.

MISRA-C requires that shift operation cannot exceed the word length.
What this patch does:
- Add the pre condition for 'init_lapic' regarding to 'pcpu_id'
Currently, max 8 physical cpus are supported.
Re-design will be required if we would like to support more physical
cpus.
So, add the pre condition here to avoid the unintentional shift
operation mistakes.
- Replace the id type with uint8_t in 'vlapic_build_id'
- For VM0, it uses 'lapic_id' as its id, which is uint8_t.
- For non VM0, it uses 'vcpu_id' as its id, which is uint16_t.
Cast this id to uint8_t to make sure there is no loss of data after
left shifting 24U.

are hardcoded. Boot args are currently passed from vm description for

ACRN boots multiple OS in partitioning mode. This patch adds code to assign
vm_id in the vm data structure to be same as the one assigned at compile time.
This makes the vm id deterministic for each VM booted from HV directly.

Adding code to map memory for UOS in partitioning mode ACRN.
HPA starting above 4GB is used for UOS memory. Supports only contiguous memory
from host for UOS. Current implementation supports only 2 GB for UOS memory.

It's not necessary to specify priority for dynamic allocated vector, because
nested irq is not supported on HV, and irq of any priority would cause VM exit.
This commit makes the following changes:
- remove the argument indicating priority in struct irq_request_info and
following functions:
ptdev_activate_entry()
find_available_vector()
irq_desc_alloc_vector()
normal_register_handler()
- change the macro of vector ranges:
VECTOR_DYNAMIC_START/END for dynamically allocable vectors;
VECTOR_FIXED_START/END for fixed allocated vectors, such as vector for
timer etc.

and does't affect shared normal world EPT.

MISRAC does not allow the use of an inline function with external
linkage.

In current code, VM0 BSP start mode is hardcoded, in this patch VM0 BSP
start mode is decided by the boot context prepared by bootloader/BIOS.
In current code, VM0 BSP VMCS is override only on UEFI platform.
In this patch, VM0 BSP VMCS is override on both SBL & UEFI platforms.
Also restructure the code of guest init code.
In this patch, a vcpu run_context is initilaized first according to vcpu mode.
Then write the value to vmcs according to run_context value.
